Compassion is of little value if it just remains an idea. It must motivate how we respond to others and be reflective in all our thoughts and actions

The future will be in the hands of those of you who belong to the 21st century. You have the opportunity and responsibility to build a better humanity. This means developing warm-heartednes s in this very life, here and now. So, do whatever work you do, but ask yourselves now and then, 'How can I contribute to human beings being happier and more peaceful?'

In the modern world, the interests of a particular community can no longer be considered to lie within the confines of its own boundaries.

We are working as hard as we can; we are preparing ourselves as carefully as we can; we fully intend to make our contribution to the world in the coming century.

I just want to live as a simple Buddhist monk, but during the last thirty years I have made many friends around the world and I want to have close contact with these people. I want to contribute to harmony and peace of mind, for less conflict. Wherever the possibililty is, I'm ready. This is my life's goal.

As far as mental development is concerned, we should never be complacent. We can develop our minds infinitely - there is no limitation.

If you can do something about a situation, why worry? And if you can't do something about a situation, why worry?
