Focusing on the way I look makes me uncomfortable. I try to focus on the way I feel - I know what makes me feel better about myself. Reading my child a story makes me feel great, doing my hair nicely doesn't.

It's always been very clear to me that I was going to be a mother and that my purpose in life was to give life.

I used to wear heels because I wanted to show people I wasn't ashamed of being tall.

I wish somebody had told me to start using sunscreen when I was younger 'cause I grew up in the '70s... and at that time, I used to coat my body with baby oil. I think it's so important that we learn to be as careful as we possibly can and not only for beauty, but for skincare.

I don't look at myself in the mirror. I'll flash past a mirror in the morning to check how I'm dressed, that's it.

I'm almost 50, so I obviously don't have the same body that I had when I was 20. But I also don't have the same mindset either, when I was wracked with self-consciousness and insecurity. Now I really appreciate my maturity as a woman, my depth of spirit and soul and my understanding of who I am and what's important to me.
