If someone has something you want, they can wrap you - they can make you think that they've got something that you have to get from them. They're the exclusive source. They are the only one who can make you happy.

The way of Zen is to become independent and strong. Don't rely on others for perceptions of life and truth. Do it individually. Go to a teacher of Zen to learn how to do that, not to get answers for individual life situations.

It is inevitable that, in the process of teaching an Asian religion in a Western country, many of the teachings will seem strange or unusual - in the same way that Christianity and Judaism may seem strange and unusual to people from the Far East.

If you pursue meditation with a non-competitive attitude, with a hopeful and helpful attitude, without violence, then you will find that you will become a very benign and powerful being, one who is at peace with himself and the universe.

A Zen master is someone whose life is one with enlightenment and self-discovery. They can never be separated from that. They've been essentially mastered by Zen.

A human being can only absorb a small amount of the mystical kundalini, you can be exposed again and again to it, but it won't really make a difference. You can only absorb so much.

When your mind is clear and your third eye is open, you can see and know things that are taking place thousands of miles away from you.
