To be a woman in your forties, I think it's a fantastic decade.

THE REASON I CAN BE 38 AND HAVE TWO KIDS AND WEAR A BIKINI IS BECAUSE I WORK MY ASS OFF. IT'S NOT AN ACCIDENT. IT'S NOT LUCK, IT'S NOT FAIRY DUST, IT'S NOT GOOD GENES. IT'S KILLING MYSELF FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF FIVE DAYS A WEEK, BUT WHAT I GET OUT OF IT IS RELATIVE TO WHAT I PUT INTO IT.

I don't eat red meat, but sometimes a man needs a steak.

I've always been very independent. Even in relationships, I'm focused on the quality of my life and not enmeshing myself so much with somebody else's experience. But I think there's incredible value in being married.

When I was starting out, I would get printouts of what was being written about me that week. At first it was all good things, and then it started to turn. I very quickly learned, "This isn't good, this isn't helping me." But it was a very important exercise for me in terms of really understanding that one's sense of self is internal. I have had an extreme opportunity to learn that lesson, and I think it's been such a blessed fortune.

My life is good because I am not passive about it. I invest in what is real. Like real people, to do real things, for the real me.
