We must restore hope to young people, help the old, be open to the future, spread love. Be poor among the poor. We need to include the excluded and preach peace.
Pope FrancisHuman beings are themselves considered consumer goods to be used and then discarded. We have created a โdisposableโ culture which is now spreading. It is no longer simply about exploitation and oppression, but something new. Exclusion ultimately has to do with what it means to be a part of the society in which we live; those excluded are no longer societyโs underside or its fringes or its disenfranchised โ they are no longer even a part of it. The excluded are not the โexploitedโ but the outcast, the โleftoversโ.
Pope FrancisLet us pause before the Child of Bethlehem. Let us allow our hearts to be touched, let us allow ourselves to be warmed by the tenderness of God; we need his caress. God is full of love: to him be praise and glory forever! God is peace: let us ask him to help us to be peacemakers each day, in our life, in our families, in our cities and nations, in the whole world. Let us allow ourselves to be moved by God's goodness.
Pope FrancisDo I take the Gospel message of reconciliation and love into the places where I live and work?
Pope FrancisIn a very real way, the poor are our teachers. They show us that peopleโs value is not measured by their possessions or how much money they have in the bank. A poor person, a person lacking material possessions, always maintains his or her dignity. The poor can teach us much about humility and trust in God.
