I have no reason to influence people. I just want to have it all for myself. I just want someone to pat me on the back. (laugh) It's crazy. It seems just completely ridiculous. I don't know why. I mean, three years ago, I wouldn't be able to influence my dog to walk.
Robert PattinsonThe first period of getting famous was incredibly strange to me and really fun at the beginning because you didn't realise the consequences of anything. You could say or do whatever you wanted and it just didn't matter.
Robert PattinsonWhen I was 17 until, I don't know, 20, I had this massive, baseless confidence. This very clear idea of myself and how I would achieve success, which involved making decisions. I saw myself picking up the phone and saying 'Absolutely not' or 'Definitely yes.' Having control. Except you have to figure out whether the way you think at 19 or 20 has any value. And eventually I understood, with all that control, which was probably illusory, I wasn't progressing. So now I'm relinquishing a bit. I'll be a tiny bit naked.
Robert PattinsonI think that โNew Moonโ was my favorite book as well mainly because I like the juxtaposition of all sudden people beingโฆitโs such a hyped character, Edward, and there are so many people looking at him like a romantic hero. In โNew Moonโ, the way that I read it anyway, heโs just so humbled. Itโs a character whoโs looking at Bella and thinking that he loves something too much but he canโt be around. He deliberately starts breaking up their relationship which I think is a very relatable thing and I think is very kind of painful.
Robert PattinsonI don't know what to say to people. It's become so big. It's become part of the cultural environment. For the first and second Twiglight, I knew exactly what to say to people. If you don't know what the story is by now, then you've probably never been to the cinema before. How about, "Why not go to the cinema for once?" I don't know.
