When you show up to speak publically, you have to show up to give. You always know the ones who do and the ones who don't.

Quality effective leaders have the confidence to trust others to try, succeed, and sometimes to fail. We very often confuse personality with leadership. In other words, leadership is not about being a nice person or not a nice person.

A parent does not do everything for their kid. A parent that does everything for their kid produces a kid with no self-confidence.

If you're looking for a book that will spike in sales and then go away and then spike again when it comes out in paperback, your normal model, I definitely won't give you that.

We should never change our minds about where we are going, but always be curious about different ways to get there.

We pursue exercise even though empirically we see no benefit from the energy we're spending and we're hurting. So empirically we should quit. The why is exactly the same thing. You persist even though there are some short-term stresses and even though there is some uncertainty.

If everything goes right, we get a good experience. If everything goes wrong, we get a good story.
