In the light of consciousness all sorts of things happen and one need not give special importance to any. The sight of a flower is as marvelous as the vision of God. Let them be. Why remember them and then make memory into a problem? Be bland about them; do not divide them into high and low, inner and outer, lasting and transient. Go beyond, go back to the source, go to the self that is the same whatever happens.
Sri Nisargadatta MaharajAll separation, every kind of estrangement and alienation is false. All is one.
Sri Nisargadatta MaharajYou are so used to the support of concepts that when your concepts leave you, although it is your true state, you get frightened and try to cling to them again.
Sri Nisargadatta MaharajThere is nothing to do, just be. Do nothing. Be. No climbing mountains and sitting in caves. I do not even say "be yourself" since you do not know yourself. Just be.
Sri Nisargadatta MaharajBy all means attend to your duties. Action, in which you are not emotionally involved and which is beneficial and does not cause suffering will not bind you. You may be engaged in several directions and work with enormous zest, yet remain inwardly free and quiet, with a mirror like mind, which reflects all, without being affected.
Sri Nisargadatta MaharajTruth gives no advantage. It gives no higher status, no power over others; all you get is truth and freedom from the false.
Sri Nisargadatta MaharajI find that somehow, by shifting the focus of attention, I become the very thing I look at, and experience the kind of consciousness it has; I become the inner witness of the thing. I call this capacity of entering other focal points of consciousness, love; you may give it any name you like. Love says "I am everything". Wisdom says "I am nothing". Between the two, my life flows. Since at any point of time and space I can be both the subject and the object of experience, I express it by saying that I am both, and neither, and beyond both.
