Don't do anything that you're already not great at doing.

If you put shame in a petri dish, it needs three ingredients to grow exponentially: secrecy, silence, and judgment. If you put the same amount of shame in the petri dish and douse it with empathy, it can't survive.

If we want to fully experience love and belonging, we must believe that we are worthy of love and belonging.

The credit belongs to those of us who are actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood. A deep sense of love and belonging is an irreducible need of all people. We are biologically, cognitively, physically, and spiritually wired to love, to be loved, and to belong. When those needs are not met, we don't function as we were meant to. We break. We fall apart. We numb. We ache. We hurt others. We get sick.

We can talk about courage and love and compassion until we sound like a greeting card store, but unless we're willing to have an honest conversation about what gets in the way of putting these into practice in our daily lives, we will never change. Never, ever.

For me, the opposite of scarcity is not abundance. It's enough. I'm enough. My kids are enough.
