Unlike an external enemy, the inner enemy cannot regroup and launch a comeback once it has been destroyed from within.

I have been clear in my position for quite a while, but the Chinese have not responded. Therefore, we are now in the process of holding a referendum on our policy among all the Tibetan community in exile and even inside Tibet, to check whether the majority thinks we are on the right track.

The very purpose of our life is happiness, which is sustained by hope. We have no guarantee about the future, but we exist in the hope of something better. Hope means keeping going, thinking, ‘I can do this.’ It brings inner strength, self-confidence , the ability to do what you do honestly, truthfully and transparently.

Prayer alone will not make a happy life. A happy life must be built. You must act.

If I had not been a monk, I would have become an engineer.

In the final analysis, the hope of every person is simply peace of mind.

I find hope in the darkest of days, and focus in the brightest. I do not judge the universe.
