What is the relationship between spirituality and ethical practice? Since love and compassion and similar qualities all, by definition, presume some level of concern for others' well-being, they presume ethical restraint. We cannot be loving and compassionate unless at the same time we curb our own harmful impulses and desires.

Because of the great differences in our ways of thinking, it is inevitable that we have different religions and faiths. Each has its own beauty. And it is much better that we live together on the basis of mutual respect and mutual admiration.

In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.

Human happiness and human satisfaction must ultimately come from within oneself. It is wrong to expect some final satisfaction to come from money or from a computer.

As long as I am alive, I am fully committed to amity between Tibetans and Chinese. Otherwise there's no use.

If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation
