You can be in a state of mind for a few seconds and forget that you were ever in any other state of mind. That's what we mean by illusion.

The dreams of the self are manifold and endless and they exist in all the myriad worlds and conditions that appear to have solidity. When you're dreaming at night, something seems very real, but when you wake up the dream is gone and so is all that apparent solidity.

Most people exist in very clouded states of mind. It's sort of like when you're underwater in a big swimming pool and you open your eyes, and you can't see very far and everything is distorted.

The mantra is a very preliminary exercise for the student to begin to grasp a sense of focus. When they are used by persons who have reached very high levels of attention, they can open up doorways to other worlds.

Even the lucky ones, who do manage to become happy by attaining their goals, live each day in fear of losing whatever it is they may have gained.

If you can be agreeable to each and every person or situation with which you come into contact - no matter how "difficult" it is or how much you think you are in the "right" - then you are demonstrating control.

Never be bored. Energy lives off of attention. When you are bored you get drained.
