LeCraeFolks working late, I had a babysitter. I ain't about to sit here and name her. I was almost 8 when she came in late, woke me up with a game to play. Did a few things that it's hard to say. Told me to keep that secret safe. I'm trying to act like it ain't real. Had my innocence just stripped from me, and I still don't know how to feel.
LeCraeA lot of people just love music, especially a lot of aspiring artists. They just want to jump in and start making music. They don't really take time to grow and appreciate the craft.
LeCraeSome people are scared to tell the truth, but I'm going to tell you the Good, the bad, the ugly," it's like, "Let's go there. Let's talk about it."
LeCraeYou got to do well at your craft ultimately, especially if you know that people are observing you and watching you and you don't want to get out there and produce subpar work. Because that's how people look at it. They don't just look at you as an athlete, they look at it as o you're an athlete and you're a Christian, what's happening now?
LeCraeIt's easier to be hedonistic and just chase after whatever appeals to your senses. That's the life of an animal, you just do. It's more difficult to stand by your convictions and have people berate you on both sides and feel like there's no home for you.
LeCraeA lot of my wounds have healed. They have left scars, and I can either hide my scars, put a long sleeve shirt on, and cover them up. Or, I can show them off and say, "Yeah, it happened."
LeCraeI want to be able to get my point across. I respect people expressing their freedoms and their liberties and their rights, but at the same time I'm almost mindful that my freedoms can be other people's downfalls. I don't want to flash my freedoms in your face all the time, especially if they're going to be detrimental. I can get you to understand my point without going overboard, and we're cool.
LeCraeI think success can be looked at in many ways. Obviously you want whatever it is that your aiming for to be something that God will endorse. I think when you can draw a target and hit, then it's successful.
LeCraeBetter to have a small role in God's story than to cast yourself as the lead in your own fiction.
LeCraeThere would be some times where people wouldn't know how to act around me. Does he drink? Can I cuss? What can I do? And then there was other circumstances where it was, I just don't respect what you're trying to do.
LeCraeI would say you've got to find your identity in God - in God alone - because everything else is a false sense of identity. He's the one who made you, he's your designer and your work and your value is found in him and not in anything or anyone else.
LeCraeAt the end of the day, my hat goes off to anybody trying to run for president, or trying to be president, because you're never going to please everybody, it's not possible.
LeCraeNever assume people's motives. It's the easiest way to find yourself upset over nothing or misjudging people
LeCraeAuthenticity resonates with people. The industry can be very misleading and is built to make people believe what they see. But people aren't dumb they can see through that and I think real music and real people resonate.
LeCraeBait is made to look SO good you OVERlook the trap. Whether scratched or scarred you ALWAYS get hurt giving in to Temptation.
LeCraeI think one of the areas of favor and grace that God has allowed us to see is internally he's just given us a strong sense of work ethic and craftsmanship. We really do work hard to make GOOD quality music.
LeCraeLife is like an elevator, a lot of ups and downs. People pushing your buttons and getting jerked around.
LeCraeIf you aim for only wealth, beauty, fame, & power, you aim too low. Humility, gentleness, gratitude, & service is aiming high.
LeCraeBelieve the best about people. Pray for their short comings. You are not the standard. We all need grace.
LeCraeAnytime you're dealing with moral issues, in a government position, you're dealing with some sticky stuff because everybody's morality is different. So you may be a Christian and say "my morality is based on the Bible." But if it doesn't line up with the way they think it should line up, now you got a problem with them. And then you can say, "I'm more in line with the Bible," but you don't care about the Bible, so they are like 'why are you imposing these difficult rules on me? I don't even believe in that.' So you just have an interesting and sticky situation.
LeCraeDon't fool people to think you are better than who you are. Instead of trying to act changed, pray that you will be changed.
LeCraeMy faith is not identified by my title. My faith is identified by how I live. Wearing the uniform is not the same as playing the game.
LeCraeI've always done music to push people to get them to get uncomfortable in their seat so they could wrestle with things. Not to become pew potatoes, just simply sitting there, growing fat with knowledge and not applying it. It's a mixed tape that's really aimed and geared toward hip hop culture.
