I really started acting when I was 12 when I was doing this television show called 'Jack & Bobby.'
Logan LermanI started studying filmmakers, and I would say early on the ones that really inspired me the most were like the field magicians of music videos.
Logan LermanI love movie sets. It's another home for me. Movie theaters and movie sets - they're just the best places to be. I love them.
Logan LermanFun. I'm not the kind of guy kids picked on in school, but I've seen it happen. I've never really given much thought to being cool. I don't really think about it one way or the other.
Logan LermanHonestly, my character doesn't have much in common with Harry Potter besides the fact that he's an unlikely hero who's thrown into a huge situation.
Logan LermanMy whole family is in orthotics and prosthetics, so I grew up having to check for scoliosis every week. 'Come over. Let me feel your spine.
Logan LermanIt's really interesting to observe each filmmaker's approach to filmmaking and I feel very fortunate to have worked with a lot of really interesting filmmakers and they all approach their job in unique ways.
Logan LermanI would love to shoot on film, but you can't really shoot a lot of footage on film, and you can't print a lot of it.
Logan LermanI'd say people that really inspired me at first were like, Dustin Hoffman, Jim Carrey... serious Jim Carrey though.
Logan LermanYou're not really just a filmmaker that makes a movie good most of the time. It's everybody involved; it's a collective effort.
Logan LermanIt's my passion, that's what I wanna do, it's the end goal, that's what I crave every second of the day is to be working on a production but also to be the person leading the production and guiding the pacing of the storytelling.
Logan LermanI'm in a position where - I mean, not a lot of people are in a very fortunate position - where I kind of have the power to choose what I want to do in a way.
Logan LermanI love learning from the filmmakers that I'm working with, but more importantly, I love learning from the crew.
Logan LermanWhat you choose to do professionally is a reflection of yourself and I take that seriously as an actor. But even as a filmmaker, I take it even more seriously.
Logan LermanMy ideal role would be the lead in a film with a director that I really appreciate and admire.
Logan LermanI know what it means to be Jewish, and I don't think someone who wasn't Jewish would really understand.
Logan LermanFor me, being able to be vulnerable is difficult, but it's just something that I feel comfortable doing. I need to fully understand why, the thought-process behind the character and I have to believe it. That comes from a lot of preparation.
Logan LermanThe idea of working with David Fincher or Paul Thomas Anderson or Wes Anderson or Scorsese or Spielberg or any of the guys I really idolize is a dream for me.
Logan LermanGrowing up, I had a very normal relationship with my brother and sister. But, over time, they became my best friends, and now I hang out with them all the time. I'm very close with them.
Logan LermanLife is a rollercoaster ride and I don't intend on being the one screaming and hanging on for dear life.
Logan LermanI'm doing 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'. It was a book I read when I was younger, and it just changed my life, and I just wanted to be a part of it.
Logan LermanFilm is a collection of many mediums and collaboration and you're only as strong as the people you're working with - and everybody owns their mediums.
Logan LermanI'm not someone who works a lot, and what I mean by that is that I have a project and I focus on it, and I don't spread myself too thin. I try to give as much as I can to that project, and if we have a lot of time, that's amazing for me, because I like to really dive deep and do as much as I can.
Logan LermanA lot of times I'm on my own trying to find research material and things like that and trying to educate myself on the world and the film that I'm working on.
Logan LermanI just want to make sure I'm contributing good films to movie history rather than being famous just to be famous.
Logan LermanThe Goonies' is classic. That's, like, the movie I bring with me if I go out of town for a long time, because it just makes me think of the best times I've seen it with my friends growing up. Dude, everybody knows that movie, everybody watches that film. Best family film ever made.
Logan LermanIt is obvious when an actor has put work into prep and research and understanding their character, and they're making choices, because that's what happens when you take the time - or have the time - to really think about the material, but that only accounts for about 60% of what happens on the day. When you're in the moment, you throw it all away. Well, you don't throw it all away, but it's in you now, and everything is reactionary in that moment and you have to be honest and present and listening.
Logan LermanI'm just trying to find a good project. Work with a good director, someone I really admire. Find a good role.
Logan LermanI grew up going to school and high school and then shooting a movie for a few months. It's an odd way to grow up and is kind of forced maturity.
Logan LermanAs you get older, there are different types of roles in people's lives at certain ages.
Logan LermanI don't really look around and say, 'I've made it.' I just look around and think how fortunate I am to work with the people I'm working with.
Logan LermanA lot of times, when I'm approaching pre-production and my job, and trying to research and work on the script and whatnot it's always different.
Logan LermanI've definitely had the experience where I was pursuing someone for a long time that I just obviously did not connect with, so I was always, kind of altering myself for her. But then you realize it's just not worth it. What's the point?
Logan LermanI did a commercial when I was, like, 5 or 6 years old for... what was it called?... Cabbage Patch Kids! That was the first thing I ever did. Little bit embarrassing.
Logan LermanJews took it very seriously to marry other Jews and repopulate the Jewish bloodline, and my father's generation gets very serious in my household when they're like, "You have to marry another Jew," because that's still kind of the mentality coming from the baby boomers. So I know that type of pressure.
Logan LermanI don't get the jitters and I don't get nervous, because I build that comfort on set for myself. Sometimes if I'm gonna do something really crazy, it helps me to yell or look like an idiot on set, so that when I'm about to do a scene, I've already embarrassed myself. I find ways to work around getting the jitters.
