Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape.

Let's face it: part of being a grownup is that every day you have to choose between going out at night or staying home, and it is one of life's unhappy truths that there is not enough time to do both.

That's another thing about being a certain age that I've noticed: I try as much as possible not to look in the mirror.

Possibly now we are now entering a third era in which the movies will be sounding a note of cautious optimism: You know, it just might work.

You do get to a certain point in life where you have to realistically, I think, understand that the days are getting shorter, and you can't put things off thinking you'll get to them someday. If you really want to do them, you better do them. There are simply too many people getting sick, and sooner or later you will. So I'm very much a believer in knowing what it is that you love doing so you can do a great deal of it.

I am not a new journalist, whatever that is. I just sit here at the typewriter and bang away at the old forms.

You can't meet someone until you become what you're becoming.
