I've been a New Yorker for ten years, and the only people who are nice to us turn out to be Moonies.

Something is worth what somebody will pay for it. Nothing else, nothing more, nothing less.

I went back to bumming around New York, writing freelance stuff for Car & Driver and such.

Last year, on a long car trip, I was listening to Rush Limbaugh shout. I usually agree with Rush Limbaugh; therefore I usually don't listen to him. I listen to NPR: "World to end-poor and minorities hardest hit." I like to argue with the radio.

Then there was communism's weak-tea sister, socialism. Socialists maintained that we shouldn't take all the money away from all the people since all the people don't have money. We should take all the money away from only the people who make money. Then, when we run out of that, we could take more money from the people who...hey, wait! Where'd you people go? What do you mean you're "tax exiles in Monaco?"

I don't see evidence of America being a poorer country than it was 20 years ago. I've seen impoverished devastation. I've seen places where things had been good and now they were very bad.

I write because I like to make things and the only things I am good at making things with are words.
