Don’t be different just to be different. Be different to be better.

So much easier to aim for the smallest possible audience, not the largest, to build long-term value among a trusted, delighted tribe, to create work that matters and stands the test of time.

We need to care enough to connect, to put ourselves at emotional risk and play one note worth hearing.

The real power of tribes has nothing to do with the Internet and everything to do with people.

An organization filled with honest, motivated, connected, eager, learning, experimenting, ethical and driven people will always defeat the one that merely has talent. Every time.

I find that I have about six bloggable ideas a day. I also find that writing twice as long a post doesn't increase communication, it usually decreases it. And finally, I found that people get antsy if there are unread posts in their queue.

I think that any time reality doesn't match your expectations, it means that marketing was involved.
