No more than six words on a slide. Ever. There is no presentation so complex that this rule needs to be broken.

The librarian isn't a clerk who happens to work in a library. A librarian is a data hound, a guide, a sherpa and a teacher. The librarian is the interface between reams of data and the untrained but motivated user.

You have to find a group that really desperately cares about what it is you have to say. Talk to them. They have something I call otaku. It's a great Japanese word. It describes the desire of someone who's obsessed to, say, drive across Tokyo to try a new Ramen noodle place 'cause that's what they do, they get obsessed with it.

Doing justice to the work is your task, not setting a world record.

When we intentionally seek out the difficult tasks, we're much more likely to actually create value.

The future of publishing is about having connections to readers and the knowledge of what those readers want.

So sure, start with a slogan. But don't bother wasting any time on it if you're merely going for catchy. Aim for true instead.
