Many great thinkers have said that happiness comes from within, not from external events, circumstances and acquisitions. This means that you need to make some changes within yourself to be able to enjoy life and find your own path to happiness.

Today I have for you five phrases that may help you discover your path to personal improvement. Choose one or more and put them into everything you do and think. Try to be guided by the chosen phrase in everything in your daily life, and you'll be surprised how quickly change will come in the way you feel.

"I am not a victim. I take responsibility for everything that happens to me"

This is probably the hardest philosophy to accept because many of us are used to blaming external circumstances, people and events for the adversities in our lives. However, if you are willing to take responsibility for it all, you will free yourself from the feeling that everything is against you, that you have bad luck, that nothing works out for you, that you are destined to be unhappy, poor, lonely and what not. Here's a very simple example - your boyfriend dumps you. You have two options - feel sorry for yourself and blame fate and your bad luck or look on the bright side - maybe you needed this change to free your heart for a new love or take more time for yourself.

"Everything that happens to me is for my own good"

Yes, it's a line we've heard too many times, to the point of numbness. But maybe it's no accident. Think about whether it's true. Every situation in your life, even the bad ones, has led you to where you are now. Without it, you wouldn't be the person you are, own the things you own, be surrounded by the people around you. Everything happens to make way for something else, something good. Face the circumstances in your life with optimism and faith in the good. Your new perception will surely pay you back with more good news.

"Dreams do come true"

Think of the children. They are confident in this statement, there are no impossible things for them, they believe they will get what they dream of. However, as the years go by, we forget more and more that dreams will actually come true. If you've forgotten it too, then this philosophy is for you. Maybe while you were growing up, adults convinced you that you can't have it all and that you're in for a lot of disappointments. Maybe you really didn't get what you wanted too many times and finally you accepted that life wasn't going the way you wanted and you turned your back on your dreams. Try to remind yourself of them and always believe in it - dreams do come true, you just have to be confident and do everything in your power to make them happen.

"I deserve happiness"

Everyone deserves happiness, no exceptions. It's like dreams - to get it, you have to believe it first. No matter the disappointments, the guilt you sometimes feel, or what anyone has ever said to you, you deserve happiness. And real happiness - purely and personally yours - not happiness at someone else's expense, not happiness at any price, not happiness to fight a thousand battles and make a thousand sacrifices for. For this you need to take time and appreciate the positive things in your life. You can even make a list - pick 10 things, people, qualities, natural characteristics or anything else you can think of that you are grateful for. By the time you get to the end of the list, you'll feel happier.

"I need to be good"

Most people feel happy when they help someone else, when they inspire others, or in some way make their lives better. If you don't feel happy enough, try this approach. Get busy with some kind of charity, find a way to help people or animals, give yourself away, be generous of kind words and deeds. This is guaranteed to make you feel happy and fulfilled.

You can choose one or more of these phrases and find a way to make the most of it. Make it your motto and be guided in your actions and thoughts by it. You can also like another phrase that fits your character and views better. The important thing is to show perseverance on the road to positivity and happiness.
