...the more you look at the same exact thing, the more the meaning goes away, and the better and emptier you feel.
Andy WarholWhenever Iโm interested in something, I know the timingโs off, because Iโm always interested in the right thing at the wrong time. I should just be getting interested after Iโm not interested any more.
Andy WarholI'll bet there are a lot of artists that nobody hears about who just make more money than anybody. The people that do all the sculptures and paintings for big building construction. We never hear about them, but they make more money than anybody.
Andy WarholI'm starting to think that the men are the ones who should wear the big jewelry because they can defend it better when it's robbed. They should wear the big diamonds. You can show how much of a man you are, because the bigger the diamond, the stronger you have to be to defend it.
Andy WarholI never understood why when you died, you didn't just vanish, everything could just keep going on the way it was only you just wouldn't be there. I always thought I'd like my own tombstone to be blank. No epitaph, and no name. Well, actually, I'd like it to say 'figment.'
Andy WarholI just happen to like ordinary things. When I paint them, I don't try to make them extraordinary. I just try to paint them ordinary-ordina ry.
Andy WarholIf you can convince yourself that you look fabulous, you can save yourself the trouble of primping.
Andy WarholAn artist is someone who produces things that people don't need to have but that he - for some reason - thinks it would be a good idea to give them.
Andy WarholDuring the '60s, I think, people forgot what emotions were supposed to be. And I don't think they've ever remembered. I think that once you see emotions from a certain angle you can never think of them as real again. That's what more or less has happened to me. I don't really know if I was ever capable of love, but after the '60s I never thought in terms of 'love' again.
Andy WarholIt's the movies that have really been running things in America ever since they were invented. They show you what to do, how to do it, when to do it, how to feel about it, and how to look how you feel about it.
Andy WarholI like to work when I'm not working - do something that may not be considered work, but to me it's work. Getting exercise by going to the grocery store.
Andy WarholAfter being alive, the next hardest work is having sex. Of course, for some people it isn't work because they need the exercise and they've got the energy for the sex and the sex gives them even more energy. Some people get energy from sex and some people lose energy from sex. I have found that it's too much work. But if you have the time for it, and if you need that exercise-then you should do it.
Andy WarholPeople need to be made more aware of the need to work at learning how to live because life is so quick and sometimes it goes away too quickly.
Andy WarholSome people spend their entire lives thinking about one particular famous person. They pick one person who's famous, and they dwell on him or her. They devote almost their entire consciousness to thinking about this person they've never even met, or maybe met once. If you ask any famous person about the kind of mail they get, you'll find that almost every one of them has at least one person who's obsessed with them and writes constantly. It feels so strange to think that someone is spending their whole time thinking about you.
